You can have (I think) 5 based on a planet and there is no hard limit to the total number of bases you can have, but there is a hard limit on how many base parts you can have across all bases. Just, whatever you do, don't build underground. You can build in caves, but don't use the terrain manipulator. WebGenerators which are part of a different base will show they are directing power, however, the one inside your other base will be un-powered. You can build multiple generators around the same spot and they will all generate about the same amount of power. If one generates 150kps building and connecting four will give you 600kps.
