WebOptic chiasmatic-hypothalamic gliomas (OCHGs) have been considered benign tumors and self-limiting in growth potential because of their histological appearance. Unfortunately, most clinical series have reported significant morbidity and mortality especially with the more extensive, posteriorly positioned tumors. WebTwo out of 12 patients (6.90%) with only optic nerve glioma, one out of 14 patients (3.4%) with chiasmal, and two out of 3 patients (6.9%) with hypothalamic glioma showed improvement in their vision. Hydrocephalus was found in two patients (6.90%), one of whom had hypothalamic glioma, and the other had an optic nerve and tectal glioma.
